The refurbishment of the University of Reading’s Grade II-listed URS Building has been shortlisted as a Future Reuse scheme for the 2026 AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards.
We are bringing the landmark building back to full use, revitalising the heart of the University of Reading’s Whiteknights campus, and providing the university with a fit-for-purpose teaching and learning hub and a new home for the School of Construction Management and Engineering.
Our fabric-first, performance-driven approach to the project secures the future of the URS Building through a heritage-led deep retrofit.
Together, a series of environmental, thermal, acoustic, and fire safety measures transforms a deteriorating but significant structure into a high‑performing academic building aligned with the university’s long‑term sustainability objectives.
It has been a privilege to work on this significant Howell, Killick, Partridge and Amis building, and this is excellent news for the project team,
