Student accommodation completes

We are thrilled to announce that our Truman Brewery project has been completed. The building, Wick Park, delivers 330 student rooms, incubator units and prime office space in the heart of Fish Island, Hackney Wick.
This area has seen dramatic development and change as part of the 2012 Olympic Legacy, making it an exciting and buzzing corner of London.
Blending in to a Stand-Out Area
The scheme offers exciting, quality accommodation for students, many of whom will attend the new London College of Fashion campus in the adjacent Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt were appointed as Executive Architects to develop the scheme from the planning design produced by Henley Halebrown. The concept references the industrial heritage of the area, marked by a series of brick piers and precast concrete lintels.
Collaborating Over Design Solutions
Bringing this aesthetic to life required meticulous detail, rigour and refinement. Working in close collaboration with the main contractor’s supply chain, we developed a creative approach that enabled the precast components to be cast with integral thermal breaks, thereby acting as permanent formwork for slab edges and eliminating the need for almost all masonry support.
We adopted an enhanced design role creating fabrication templates for all precast elements within our BIM model. This not only facilitated a high quality facade created within the budgetary constraints of the project, but it also brought significant time savings.
Wick Park is most certainly a complementary addition to what is an already vibrant hub in Fish Island.
