Time to do More

Interview with Olaide Oboh, First Base

5 November 2020

In the latest Elliott Wood’s ‘Time to do More’ series, Matthew Chamberlain interviews Olaide Oboh from First Base, a mixed-use developer focused on delivering long-term social value for communities across the UK.

Olaide shares her views on how developers can do more to fight inequality by enabling community, health and wellbeing in schemes and supporting local authorities. She comments: “You cannot deliver a £200 million scheme and not address the [poverty]. It’s not fair on the community that you’ve disrupted. We have to do much more.”

She also addresses the imbalance of investment towards London and the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on underserved communities.

Olaide is the Director of Partnerships at First Base.
