The Latymer School

Our exciting scheme at The Latymer School in Enfield, London, has started on site. 

Construction is now underway on a new extension that will transform an underused courtyard into much needed learning spaces.

The Latymer School appointed Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt to create a modern learning environment while preserving the historic library’s heritage. This project aims to address space constraints and meet the growing needs of the school by linking the 1910 library building with a 1960s art block and a post-war sports block.

Our photos of the construction site highlight the historical backdrop surrounding the project. Our new addition will seamlessly connect the original structure with contemporary elements, featuring passive design measures like natural ventilation and maximised daylight. The design includes flexible spaces such as cosy reading nooks, breakout areas, and gathering rooms to support independent learning, group work, and mentorship.

This project will enhance the school’s long-term integrity and appeal, reaffirming Latymer’s reputation for academic excellence and thoughtful preservation of its history.
