AI in Practice

We recently hosted our off-site Practice Day centred around “Artificial Intelligence in Practice”, planned internally by Paul Avery, Tash Page and James Langham.

The day was packed with a range of AI focused activities from AI overviews, team presentations and Dragon’s Den style AI Hackathon, to workshops and ethical debate. Live demonstrations and use of various AI tools featured throughout the day including text, text to image, text to video, as well as image and model refinement processes, across all areas of practice.

A particular highlight was the Arka.Works ‘AI in Architecture’ GenAI workshop, led by guest speaker Keir Regan-Alexander, who commented: “This was a great event…Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt Ltd are thinking about what these techniques mean for how they approach projects and practice on a fundamental level and we were able to proactively consider where workflows can be adopted that are simple to implement, high utility and low risk.”

Exploring the possibilities of how we can embrace AI was fascinating, challenging and inspiring; questioning the impacts for practice now and in the future at an increasing rate of change.

We concluded the day over a team meal, decompressing with talk of artificial, human and some topics free of intelligence! We will be building on the day developing AI processes and governance within the practice. Our next Practice Day is scheduled for the end of the summer, with the theme being set by Associate Tom Hetherington in collaboration with the directors; we can’t wait to tell you about it!
