Barnet and Southgate College
PROJECTS / Education
Barnet and Southgate College is a further education college network with main campuses in Wood Green, Colindale and Southgate. The Southgate Campus is made up of eight individual building blocks orientated around external courtyard spaces. The existing buildings date from the 1960s but have had numerous extensions and alterations over the years to accommodate the changing needs of generations of students and changes in curriculum.
We initially undertook a feasibility study of the campus to develop options for the refurbishment of existing buildings and the creation of approximately 4,000m2 of new flexible teaching accommodation. The first development phase included the re-cladding and fit out of the main building to improve environmental performance and create the best internal learning atmosphere.
Later phases included the refurbishment of the reception area, provision of a Business Innovation Zone within the existing Progression Centre, and a new teaching space for the Advanced Engineering Department in Blocks E and W.
