Plant Wins RIBA South Award 2026

We are proud to see Plant in Basingstoke, the building we call home, recognised with a RIBA South Award 2026.
The refurbishment of the Grade II listed Mountbatten House carefully restores one of the UK’s most important examples of 1970s British Modernism by Arup Associates. Recognised for its pioneering integration of architecture and landscape, the building’s iconic roof gardens and workspaces have been revitalised, giving new life to this landmark office building and demonstrating the value of sustainable retrofit and regeneration.
Originally designed by Arup Associates in the early 1970s, Mountbatten House was conceived as a pioneering workplace that blurred the boundaries between architecture, landscape and wellbeing. The recently completed transformation carefully preserves the spirit of the original building while adapting it to meet the needs of contemporary occupiers through upgraded workspaces, improved environmental performance and enhanced communal amenities.
Led by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios alongside Grant Associates, Twelve Architects and Studio Knight Stokoe, the project highlights the importance of retaining and reusing existing buildings as part of a more sustainable approach to development. The restoration of the building’s celebrated roof gardens and shared spaces has created a vibrant workplace environment that reflects the ambitions of the original design while supporting modern patterns of work.
