Striking new Sports Pavilion in Basingstoke

9 September 2019

We’ve secured planning for a new sports pavilion in Basingstoke. The £2.6 million project replaces an outdated sports and social club at May’s Bounty Cricket Ground. The pavilion will be home to the area’s cricket, rugby, football and squash clubs.

The contemporary new pavilion is made up of three squash courts, club bar with members’ lounge and a flexible function space with capacity for up to 150 people. In addition, there are international-standard cricket changing facilities, enabling the ground to host Hampshire County Cricket matches.

Our design consists of two carved brick blocks that come together to form a plinth that houses the changing room spaces. An external terrace wraps around the first-floor social spaces, providing 360-degree views of the surrounding sports pitches. A striking folded canopy marks the building as a landmark while sheltering the terrace.

Work is set to begin in March 2020.
