Building above Rail Lines
North London station development
28 April 2019
This speculative office building in North London is designed to offer large, flexible floor plates with high levels of servicing.
The building bridges the span of the railway tracks, creating a link between the platforms and ticket hall, and the street level retail promenade. Internally, centralised cores maximise the potential for daylight penetration into the building and views out.
The constraints of constructing above railway lines and the cost of building the over-rail decking are managed through the application of modern methods of construction. A reinforced concrete frame is proposed for the base floors, steel frame for the upper floors and a unitised façade curtain wall system.
