Marlborough College
New Project
7 November 2016
We are supporting Diamond Schmitt Architects to refurbish and improve the auditorium and back of house facilities at Marlborough College’s Memorial Hall. The Hall was designed and built in 1927 as a memorial to Marlborough College’s ex pupils who gave their lives during the First World War.
As a performing arts facility the hall is inadequate both acoustically and theatrically due to a poor stage and sight lines as well as congested back of house circulation. There is also limited provision of public spaces with no toilets, coat room, lobby or foyer. The proposals address all these issues while enhancing the existing building through a series of sensitive interventions.
