Hi, my name is Dominic Gaunt, and I am the Creative Director at Ayre Chamberlain Gaunt.
“My role, I suppose, is ‘Chief Meddler’, making sure that the quality of what we do is on point. I run the design review process and ultimately spend my time trying to raise our profile and make sure that we are winning work.
Our 2025 was a really good year in the round, I think. We moved into our new studio – a fantastic space, we have a great team including ten new starters this year which is representative of all the exciting new projects and initiatives going on here.
What was most exciting for me, however, was the new opportunities that came our way. We finished South Staffordshire College which is another big milestone for the practice. Things like LSE, as well, was a frustrating moment – coming a close second place on that project after a really enjoyable collaboration with other architectural practices. But we have a fantastic pipeline of work and opportunities and hopefully that will continue into 2026.
We have increased the diversity in what we do as a practice. Historically, we have been very focussed on housing and education, and so it is nice to have a broad spectrum of work.
I think the fact that we are getting these opportunities for the bigger, more exciting schemes is representative of our maturity as a practice, our track record and experience. So, what excites me most is the possibilities, the unknowns, what’s to come. Who knows? I think, in architecture, you’re only one phone call away from either high-fiving or disaster, aren’t you?
Hopefully, we will have another good year like 2025.”
