Fundraising for Back Up

ACG Cliffhangers Raise £8K!

18 July 2018

This year we’re fundraising for Back Up, a leading spinal injuries charity. We first heard about the charity and the fantastic work they do from one of our clients, who is living with a spinal cord injury resulting from a very rare infection. She put us in touch with Back Up and before we knew it we were signed up for the Snowdon Push!

On 6 July, the ACG Cliffhangers raced nine other teams to the top of Mount Snowdon (and back down). The challenge, which is organised annually by Back Up, involves teams of up to 16 people and one wheelchair user, pushing, pulling, climbing and wheeling to the 3,500ft summit of the highest mountain in England and Wales.

The team smashed it, completing the race in under 6 hours (in 30 degree heat) and picking up the award for Top Fundraiser.

At present, there are approximately 40,000 people living with a Spinal Cord Injury, with a new diagnosis every 8 hours. SCI can have a devastating impact on those affected and their families, both physically and mentally. As a leading UK Spinal Injuries Charity, Back Up are focused on offering support, encouraging independence and inspiring people to lead the lives they want to lead.

We have organised a number of charity events throughout the year to raise money for Back Up. Dominic Gaunt will be swimming to the Isle of Wight later this month and others from the practice have signed up for the Prudential Ride, a 100-mile cycle from London to Surrey and back.

Any donations are greatly appreciated!
