Charterhouse School Art and Design Engineering Centre has been shortlisted for the 2026 AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards.

The Art and Design Engineering Centre transforms and unifies the school’s existing art, design and technology buildings through a carefully considered extension and full refurbishment, delivering a collaborative, inclusive environment where creativity and technology intersect.
We have sensitively retrofitted the 1957 studio building, preserving its architectural significance and enhancing performance and adaptability.
Marking a key milestone in the campus’s transition to co-education, the project introduces a new glazed link that connects previously fragmented buildings, forming a shared entrance, gallery spaces and a landscaped courtyard that act as a vibrant social and academic hub.
